SusCom Gives PCN A Full-Time Channel On Its Lineup

Effective February 28, SusCom customers in the York and Hanover areas of York County will notice a change in their cable lineup. PCN, the Pennsylvania Cable Network, will be seen on a full-time basis on channel 21, ending years of a shared channel with SusCom4. The channel relocation will allow customers to catch events like the upcoming wrestling and basketball championships, regular programs like "PCN Tours" as well as the state legislative sessions and election coverage 24-hours a day without interruption.

Known by many as the "C-SPAN of Pennsylvania," PCN televises live, unedited gavel-to-gavel coverage of the state's General Assembly including committee hearings, press conferences, and speeches. This approach to covering state politics allows viewers to form their own opinions without commentary and analysis.

PCN's commitment to political coverage continues with statewide election coverage of the biggest races. In-depth discussions concerning the hottest issues facing Pennsylvania legislators are explored during the PCN Call-In program, a live, interactive show. "Journalists Roundtable" discusses today's political issues with members of the media.

Programs highlighting the Commonwealth's business, culture, and history are also part of the programming lineup. Coverage of the PA State Farm Show, Groundhog Day, and the Gettysburg Battlewalks has become popular annual events among viewers. Original programming such as "PCN Tours," "PA Books," and "PCN Profiles" round out the public affairs lineup.

"PCN's coverage of the Pennsylvania Farm Show and statewide affairs as well as "PCN Tours" are extremely popular," said Mitch Piskur, General Manager for SusCom-York.

"We are excited to be able to offer PCN's programming to our customers on a full-time basis."

PCN is not just about public affairs coverage. Statewide high school sports action is seen on PCN's football and basketball "Game of the Week" and wrestling "Match of the Week." The PIAA sports championships are televised LIVE exclusively on PCN.

"SusCom is pleased to offer PCN's cable-exclusive programming to our customers in the York and Hanover areas," said Jim Munchel, SusCom President and Chief Operating Officer. "The full-time carriage of PCN furthers affirms SusCom's commitment to our community and superior public service programming."

"SusCom has been a strong supporter of PCN for many years. The move to give this network a full-time channel is an extension of that commitment, and a reminder that only cable television systems can provide the kind of local programming that can be seen on PCN and on SusCom4," noted PCN President & CEO Brian Lockman.

SusCom is a recognized leader in the delivery of cable television and other broadband digital telecommunications services, all supported with exceptional customer care. The York based company operates networks in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Maine, Illinois, Indiana, and New York, serving over 235,000 customers, ranking it among the top 20 cable and broadband companies in the U.S.

PCN is a nonprofit, noncommercial news organization funded by cable television companies that voluntarily carry the network on their channel lineup. The service, headquartered in Camp Hill, has bureaus in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and is distributed on more than 150 cable systems in Pennsylvania.
